After hearing back from everyone and getting GREAT feedback, I think i have narrowed down my search for a good pair of binoculars. As mentioned in a previous question, this is my first pair, and want to be able to do a great deal of sky gazing. I want a pair that is going to allow me to look at the moon, stars, and planets...but also that my boyfriend can use at the gun range to spot his targets. I believe 10x50 binoculars will do the trick(if i am wrong, please correct me), and i have found an Orion Ultra View 10x50 (waterproof, BAK-4, and multi coated) and a Nikon Ex Extreme 10x50 (or the basic action model) also waterproff, BAK-4, and multi coated. Is my assumption that 10x50 will do both land and star views, and are these ones good?

In addition, if I get a tripod and go up to 15x80 (or anything higher than 10x50), would this still allow me to use it in basic nature settings, and allow me to see even MORE of the sky?
